R.I.P. DOLLY PARTON πŸ•ŠοΈ

Hey Anthony, in honor of Dolly Parton, what are your favorite "Jolene" covers?

Good question. "Jolene" covers a highly, highly covered song. One of the most covered songs of all time. And Dolly in general is kind of one of the most covered artists of all time. But I think like my all-timer covers of that track are:

One – The White Stripes. Their version of the song is really booming. It's raw. It's a little lo-fi. Jack's vocal performance on it is killer too.

Probably my most favorite modern cover of the song is the one on BeyoncΓ©'s Cowboy Carter. The production and her vocal performance on that one are peak. Just a great combination of sounds and vocals all around.

I also want to do a shout-out to, of course, Miley Cyrus' live rendition of the song. That was actually a bit of an awakening for me with regards to Miley's vocal chops, which I feel like that was for a lot of people. Miley really showed people like her vocal range on that version.

There's also the Parlor Greens version of the track, which isn't instrumental, but if you're into groups like Booker T. & the M.G.'s or the Meters, you like the kind of smooth and old-school instrumental funk vibe, you're gonna like that version a lot.

And then if you're looking to get kind of creepy with "Jolene," you, you gotta listen to the Xiu Xiu cover from their latest compilation of, of covers. It's a very odd, very weird, very eerie cover, but you know, that's that's the magic of Xiu Xiu.

Giggins, please don't take my man, okay? Thank you.

What do you think?
