Popular rapper Lil Durk is on trial for his alleged involvement in the murder of rapper Quando Rondo's late cousin, Saviay'a "Lul Pab" Robinson on August 19, 2022. This murder was allegedly ordered by Durk in response to the November 6, 2020 killing of late rapper King Von, who was murdered by associates of Rondo.

Durk was arrested in Florida on October 24, 2024 for the alleged murder. The following month, Durk pled not guilty to charges that included conspiracy and use of interstate facilities to commit murder for hire resulting in death.

Prosecutors revealed today in court an unreleased music video by Durk for his 2020 song "Redman." Durk's attorney, Brian Steel, argued that "it was an expression of art that never got released." The video in question was filmed in January 2021 and it features Durk reading news of Von's death. The video also shows Durk chasing after and shooting an actor who prosecutors claim is supposed to represent Rondo.

The judge, Michael Fitzgerald, has allowed for Durk's lyrics to be used as evidence for the jury in the case, a move which critics lambast as reinforcing racial stereotypes.

The trial is expected to last for several weeks.
