Wolves in the Throne Room have announced their 10th album, Estuary, out October 23 via Relapse (North America) and Century Media (rest of the world). The Olympia band self-produced most of the record at their own Owl Lodge studio.

Leading the announcement is first single "Ghosts Among the Obelisks," an eight-minute song that arrives with a music video. Listen:

Estuary is a concept record set 1,000 years in the future, after the death of civilization, following survivors as they wander through haunted ruins amid mutant creatures and open portals. The album takes its name and its imagery from that world. "If wilderness overcame the cities in the future, the estuaries would be realms of power and magic," frontman Nathan Weaver said. Weaver also directed the video for "Ghosts Among the Obelisks."

The band describes Estuary as their "most ferocious and genre-bending record to date," pushing rawer, more volatile black metal into the noisy, industrial territory the announcement frames as a tension between "stillness and noise, animal and machine, elementals and electricity." It's their first full-length since the 2023 EP Crypt of Ancestral Knowledge.

Wolves in the Throne Room are headed out on tour in support of the record across Europe this fall. See those dates below.
