Grace Carter has announced her debut album, When Saturn Returns, out October 16 via UnitedMasters. The 13-track record is the London songwriter's first release as a fully independent artist, arriving after years away from the spotlight spent reassessing her sound and rebuilding the project entirely on her own terms.
Leading the announcement is new single "Party Baby," out now, which you can watch the video for below:
The song is a sharp, searching pop cut about the search for purpose and the pressure to grow up on schedule. It's a feeling Carter knows well. The song, she explains, speaks to "the pressing feeling so many of us in our twenties and thirties feel to settle down and have children." It follows "White," the single that marked her return and reintroduced an artist ready to speak more plainly than ever.
For Carter, simply finishing When Saturn Returns was its own kind of triumph. "I have tears in my eyes writing this as I really started to believe it would never happen," she says. "It's taken me years to get to this point..." That hard-won quality runs through the album, which she describes as the best and most honest work she has made, created independently and without compromise.
