Surviving Soundgarden members reunite for benefit as Nudedragons

Soundgarden's Kim Thayil, Ben Shepherd, and Matt Cameron have only performed together twice since their legendary frontman Chris Cornell's untimely 2017 passing: at a tribute show to Cornell in 2019 and a surprising team-up with roots-rock maven Brandi Carlile in 2021 to do their classics "Black Hole Sun" and "Searching With My Good Eye Closed." But on 14 December, next Saturday, there will be a third at Seattle's annual SMooCH concert.

The already sold-out performance is part of a benefit for Seattle's Children's Hospital for their uncompensated care fund, billed under the name Nudedragons (an anagram of guess-who) with singer Shaina Shepherd (who's apparently not related to Ben).

According to SMooCH's website, "Nudedragons will be returning to the stage, and the Showbox, for the first time in 14+ years as part of the SMooCH 2024 lineup!!! Shaina Shepherd will be featured on vocals for their brief encore performance." (The Showbox is the same venue Soundgarden played at when they first reunited in 2010 after their original 1997 breakup.)

The show will also feature Sebadoh's first performance in five years, and if you've ever wanted to see Built to Spill's Doug Martsch and Guns N' Roses' Duff McKagan on the same bill, hope you already scored tickets.
