UK singer Sam Fender has released the titular track of his new album People Watching. This is the first single off the record, which will be released February 21, 2025.
"'People Watching' is about somebody that was like a surrogate mother to me and passed away last November," Fender posted on November 7 to his social media accounts. He added, "It’s kind of ironic because she was the one that gave me the confidence to go on stage, and used to be like ‘why haven’t you mentioned my name in your acceptance speech’. But now an entire song (and album) connects to her."
It’s kind of ironic because she was the one that gave me the confidence to go on stage, and used to be like ‘why haven’t you mentioned my name in your acceptance speech’. But now an entire song (and album) connects to her. I hope she’s looking down saying ‘about time kid’.

Fender co-produced "People Watching" with The War on Drugs' Adam Granuciel in LA.
The singer also announced earlier today that he will begin a brief North American leg of the People Watching tour in spring 2025. He will travel to seven US cities and Vancouver.
