Real Farmer brute force their way to a punk track on "I.D.K.T.S."

The Dutch band Real Farmer have been warming up for their upcoming album Two Wrongs Don't Make A Right, out May 1 via Strap Originals, with a string of firy singles that go anywhere from proto-punk, to hard rock, to dream pop. Now, they're back with a hard pivot into an eclectic punk song with their new single, "I.D.K.T.S.", or "I Don't Know This Song."

The new single comes with a home video-channeling music video, directed by Héctor Garcia Martin. Watch/listen to "I.D.K.T.S." below:

Kind of like the title itself, the new Real Farmer song revels in the fact that it doesn't cohere to any traditional song structure. It starts with clapping drums and a shower of buzzy, electric guitars before slowing down and catching its breath with a mellow bass line and ruminating lyrics.

Their sophomore album, Two Wrongs Don't Make A Right, promises to mirror the anarchy of the tracks we've heard already, giving voice to the challenging attitude of the band's members. "I grew up in a place where I had to bite back a lot, so I've become really good saying 'fuck you!'" says front man Jeroen Klootsema via press release. "But I think when it comes to the bigger collective picture, it takes more than just one person kicking at things. It also requires knowing what you're doing it for." He continues, "I'm constantly reframing that on this album: what do I believe? What is anarchy to me? What is a community to me? In these songs, we’re collectively trying to re-examine all those things as a band."

Next month, the Groningen four-piece will be heading to Europe and the UK for a 23-date promotional tour. Tickets are available now.
