Magnetic Eye Records recently revealed their plans for two new tribute albums dedicated to the foundational punk band, the Ramones.

Titled Ramones Redux and The Best of Ramones Redux, the collections will feature a wide lineup of artists covering the band’s self-titled 1976 debut and highlights from the rest of their discography.

Some of the musicians lined up for the tribute include Napalm Death teaming up with Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, and a collab between Arthur Brown and GWAR’s Blöthar the Berserker. Other players included on the compilation are David J of Bauhaus, Paul Wallfisch from Swans, plus Dave & Paula Lombardo, and members of Voivod and Emperor. The project is being curated by Marc Urselli, a Grammy-winning producer, and has been funded through a Kickstarter campaign that has exceeded its initial goal of $6,000 with about two weeks to go. Head over to the Kickstarter page to pledge for some special pressings.

Urselli says:

Decades after their inception, the effect of their work echoes through the chords of new generations. Their music remains timeless, a testament to the enduring power of simplicity and authenticity. As the godfathers of punk, the Ramones not only shaped a genre but reshaped the essence of what rock and roll could be — a raw, unapologetic expression of rebellion and individuality.”

While an official tracklist has yet to be revealed, the labels have confirmed that the albums are expected to be available by early June 2025. The full roster of artists involved is listed below.
