Queens of the Stone Age's Catacombs tour saw the band introduce a new song, "Easy Street," last year. Now, the tune is finally available in its studio form through Matador Records, and Country artist Nikki Lane (her 2022 album Denim & Diamonds was produced by QOTSA leading man Josh Homme) provides additional vocals.
"It's like hitting your funny bone," Homme said of "Easy Street." "It's funny because it hurts and it hurts because it's funny." He also emphasized the raw nature of the song's production, helmed by him and bassist Michael Shuman. "No click track, [and] mistakes left in. It speeds up, it slows down, the claps aren't great, but they're not bad, and a bad clap adds this human thing you can’t fake."
"Easy Street" also has an official video, viewable below. Directed duties were handled by Tony Wolski and Christopher Gruse.
The band is currently gallivanting around Europe with System of a Down, and will do North American concerts with Foo Fighters in September. In the past few days, Homme has appeared on songs by Mastodon and Shania Twain.
The band have also announced plans for a December run in Oceania with Primus and Tropical Fuck Storm, the dates for which are below:
12/08 Adelaide, AU @ The Drive
