Mastodon are powering through after suffering the loss of founding guitarist Brent Hinds last year, with Nick Johnston taking his place. They have a new record on the way, Marrow Deep, arriving August 28. The project follows in the tradition of Mastodon concept albums, dealing largely with the Three Fates of Greek mythology. These fates determine the destiny of all humans.

Out today is second single "Snakes for Dinner," featuring Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme. A Mastodon fan favorite, 2006's "Colony of Birchmen," also features Homme. Check out "Snakes for Dinner" below, and see if you catch the lyrical reference to 2004's "Hearts Alive."

The spirit of Hinds looms large over the Atlanta outfit, as evidenced by the title of their first single without him, June's "Your Ghost Again." Besides Homme, a litany of guest features help round out the songs on offer. Black Sabbath legend Geezer Butler provides bass for "The Vanishing." Neil Fallon (Clutch), Randy Blythe (Lamb of God), Joe Duplantier (Gojira), and Nate Newton and Ben Koller (Converge) also appear.
