Locust reveals 'Spectral+' album

Dana Badii

Locust will return on September 11, 2026 with the new album Spectral+ under TODO Records. Alongside vocalists Olive Kimoto, Natasha Morrow, Nick Holton of Black Hearted Brother, and Griff Spex, founding member Mark Van Hoen continues his streak of eclectic sounds.

The second single for Spectral+, "Soul Sky," is out now. Listen to the track here:

Griff Spex and Olive Kimono feature in "Soul Sky," with the former stating "the core of the lyrics is about the process of detaching from overgrown situations, whether it be in a romantic relationship or a relationship with yourself."

Spectral+ is said to be influenced by Giorgio Moroder, Brian Eno, My Bloody Valentine, and Boards of Canada. The album title reflects the sheer variegation, the range of colour across these songs, as well as implying something of the sense of spectres of pop’s past.

“I’m much more interested in songs, these days – the songwriting process,” says Mark Van Hoen.
