Hudson Freeman is back and has announced his new album, Doom Country, out November 6 via Mom + Pop, his first release for the label. The record follows 2025’s is a Folk Artist.

Freeman describes Doom Country as a “post-apocalyptic road trip album through America,” drawing comparisons to Illinois, Nebraska, and Ghosts of the Great Highway. He said the album leans into a mix of lo-fi sludge, folk, and Americana, shaped in part by his Evangelical upbringing and the broader sense of apocalypticism he’s observed in the years since. 

Freeman was born in Waxahachie, Texas, to Evangelical missionaries, and began writing songs after his family moved from the Dallas suburbs to Eswatini when he was 13. He later attended college in Springfield, Missouri, before relocating to New York City, where he now lives with his wife, Sophia. His songwriting has drawn comparisons to Sufjan Stevens, Weed, Andy Shauf, and Wednesday. 

Freeman is headed out on tour in support of the record, beginning this October across North America with Jesse Welles, including a record release show at Bowery Ballroom in New York on the album’s release date, followed by a run of UK and European dates next year. See those dates down below.
