Emily Bjorke reminisces on her new single "Skeletons in Toronto"

Minneapolis born and LA based singer-songwriter, composer, producer Emily Bjorke has released "Skeletons in Toronto," the second single ahead of her upcoming record, the name of which has yet to be revealed.

Previously, Bjorke fronted the Minneapolis based surf punk band Last Import, however, this new record will be her debut solo effort.

The award winning composer produced, wrote, and performed the track herself (with exception of Hunter Livsey on live drums and final mastering). What started as a late night ProTools session at an Airbnb on King Street during the Toronto International Film Festival and was continued in studios, hotel rooms, and planes across Minneapolis, Los Angeles, and New York City over the following months.

Bjorke says the instrumental and vocal chants throughout the track are inspired by many of her favorite Canadian acts such as Metric, Alvvays, The Beaches, Tokyo Police Club.

When asked about the meaning of the track, Bjorke shared, "I wrote this track when I was in Toronto for TIFF. I loved being there and I love the people of Toronto so much, they make me so fucking happy. One night I had plans fall through and I thought "what am I supposed to do? I guess I write a song about how I'm feeling right now." She continued, "Toronto is such a special city to me, and that trip acted as a sort of resetting of how I view my life– what do I want? What am I destined to do? What sort of music am I capable of making?"

Back in May, Bjorke had released her first single "Little Time." You can give it a listen below:
