Drake announces new PartyNextDoor collab album '$ome $exy $ongs 4 U,' out on Valentine's Day

After Kendrick Lamar's sweep at the Grammys last night for Song and Record of the Year "Not Like Us", it may be difficult to remember that Drake was a self-proclaimed Certified Lover Boy before anything else. But in case anyone truly forgot, the Canadian rapper is back today with an official announcement regarding his next $exy project.

Drake has announced his next record $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, a collaborative album with fellow OVO Sound artist PartyNextDoor. According to Drake, it will be released on February 14, just in time for Valentine's Day.

The timing of the announcement is peculiar, given that Drake's ongoing feud with the artist behind the scathing diss track about him has now unfolded into lawsuits, a now-deleted freestyle rap response, petty remarks on xQc's Twitch livestream, and a leaked "Opp List" (that includes us!). But, perhaps Stereogum said it best: "This conspicuously timed album announcement seems tailor-made for those who say they miss the old Drake, underscoring what sets him apart from Kendrick as an artist in the first place."

The teaser video Drake's label released earlier today features the rapper in what he wants everyone to believe is his natural habitat: in the studio, surrounded by pretty women, but still brooding pensively and alone in the corner. One of the new songs on the record is included as a snippet.

$ome $exy $ongs 4 U will be a collaborative project with PartyNextDoor, the first artist he ever signed to his label OVO Sound in 2013, according to New York Times. Drake has several features in PartyNextDoor's discography, including the double-platinum 2014 single "Recognize" and 2020's "LOYAL". This collaborative album of the two Canadian artists will be released almost a year after PartyNextDoor's record PARTYNEXTDOOR4 (P4).

The two first announced that they were working on a collaborative album at PartyNextDoor's Toronto concert in August 2024. Appearing as a surprise guest, Drake took to the stage to perform an hour-long set, which featured the first live performance of "Wah Gwan Delilah", according to Rolling Stone. He told the crowd at one point, "On behalf of me and Party, we’ve been working on something for y’all." He told the "girls" in the audience that they've been working on an album for "when it gets a little chilly," as reported by Rolling Stone.

Drake also posted many photos from the studio onto his Instagram last month, repeating a motif of including three dollar signs in each post—now understood as a hint to the title of this upcoming record.

Drake is also currently on the Anita Max Win Australia/New Zealand tour, which is named after his crypto gambling alter ego (originally spelled "Anita Max Wynn") that he created after entering a partnership with the online casino Stake in 2022. Stake is not affiliated with the tour.
