The duo of Mat Brooke and Jenn Champion have reunited to announce their first album as Carissa's Wierd in 25 years, Somewhere Further Than Far Away, set for release on January 8, 2027.

With news of the release, the once Seattle-based band also shares their first single, "No One Lives Here Anymore." Listen:

In a press release, Brooke says of the track, "In a way, the song sets the stage for the album, visiting abandoned places that no longer belong to you. A nostalgia for a past that doesn't exist anymore."

Carissa's Wierd had broken up in 2003 after touring relentlessly and releasing three full length albums between 2000 and 2002. Although Brooke and Champion continued writing, and began new projects like Grand Archives and Band of Horses, audiences still connected with Carissa.

So much so that the duo began to realize they had a whole new generation of fans at a couple reunion shows in 2025. Brooke and Champion were inspired to bring Carissa back in a way that felt honest and true. Brooke even admits in a press release that he looked at old photo albums to immerse himself in the right mindset to encompass Carissa's sound.

Carissa's Wierd will find their way back to stage again at And Always Forever Festival in Los Angeles on November 8. See full lineup here.
