Brimheim shares new single "My Collection"

Danish-Faroese experimental artist Brimheim is heading in a new, dreamier, jazzier direction with "My Collection," her newest single out today via Tambourhinoceros. Her latest piece of music since the alternative rock album RATKING in 2024, the track is soaked in the velvety smoke of a 1970s jazz/cabaret crooner.

"My Collection" comes with a music video directed by frequent collaborator Stine Emil. Watch/listen to the new track below:

In "My Collection," Brimheim lyrically transforms unconventional or rejected qualities of other people into valuable, shiny trinkets on display in a collector's store. Like the subject matter, the composition of the track also has an unexpected, delightfully mis-matching appeal, pulling from a variety of jazz, folk, chamber pop, and classic rock. She glides through the single with an easy-going, slow, and enchanting croon, but peculiar instrumental passages — a mellotron solo, trumpet flourishes, and organ embellishments — make sure to peek through.

"Writing new music had felt like swimming in molasses for months until “My Collection” arrived — it was a major breakthrough,” Brimheim says via press release. Since RATKING, the artist took a step back from her solo project to focus on radio production, songwriting, and acting, where she debuted in the feature film No Rest For The Wicked earlier this year. She continues,

“The jazzy direction was surprising to both me and [collaborator Søren Buhl Lassen]. It’s a musical tradition I haven’t explored before. Yet somehow, it immediately revealed itself as the most enchanting path we could take. It felt like receiving a gift from the universe.”
