A concert headlined by The Chainsmokers in San José took a troubling turn on Friday night September 4, with 14 people ultimately taken to the hospital after becoming ill during the event.

The show was being held at Discovery Meadow in downtown San José, where emergency crews began receiving calls shortly after 8:20pm about concertgoers needing medical assistance. Paramedics treated multiple people at the scene, while police initially reported that at least 10 attendees had been transported to a nearby hospital.

By the following morning, the San José Fire Department confirmed that the number of people hospitalized had risen to 14.

Police later told NBC Bay Area that the incidents appeared to involve "suspected alcohol intoxication and drug-related issues." Authorities did not specify any specific substances believed to have been involved, and no further details were released regarding the severity of the medical cases.

This is not the only Chainsmokers show to end with fans in the hospital. Their set last month at Splash House's "After Hours" event at the Palm Springs Air Museum resulted in 7 people rushed to the emergency room after a fight broke out and bottles were thrown.

The Chainsmokers have not publicly addressed the incident or released a statement regarding the show at this time.
