The Jesus Lizard unveil new non-album single "Cost of Living"

Tyler Roland

On September 13th, underground titans The Jesus Lizard came back with a new, heavy-hitting LP Rack, their first in a putting-Tool-to-shame 26 years. Now, the quartet has sweetened the deal with a new standalone track on digital platforms, "Cost of Living."

Arriving to herald an imminent tour, the track bangs with the same combustible force as the highlights of the band's latest record. Guitarist Duane Denison describes the cut as one of those "tricked-out, odd timing type things with twists and turns." Meanwhile, singer David Yow explains that even he doesn't know what the song is about.

"I think it has to do with the dread and self-loathing that addicts experience on a very regular basis. You can pick whichever type of addict you choose."
