Brian Eno produced 1979's Ambient 1: Music for Airports to be played over the PA systems at, well, take a wild guess. On September 20, the Manchester Camerata will do one better, performing the album live at Manchester Airport, twice, as a part of area festival Here We Are.
A sextet will deliver the Will Newell arrangement of the album in two hour-long performances, from 2:00 to 3:00 and from 3:45 to 4:45 in the afternoon, putting passengers in Terminal 2 at ease before or after their flights.
Bright minds have had this idea before; New York ensemble Bang on a Can All-Stars performed Music for Airports in Liverpool's John Lennon Airport in 2006.
