Indie-rock trio Yo La Tengo are supporting Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz in their bid for the 2024 United States Presidential election - and they’re looking to team up with like-minded fans. 

The band is currently taking applications from venues interested in hosting fundraising events, with a focus on cozier, acoustic sets. They request that each host makes a substantial contribution to the Harris-Walz campaign. Donation bids can be submitted here through their personal website, where applicants are asked to provide information on their general location and any available dates for potential shows. Venues are also asked to provide a detailed rundown on their physical space, guest capacity, and any other ideas that may help draw attendees to their cause. 

Yo La Tengo is plenty familiar with fundraising events. Since 1996, the band has played an annual on-air song request show in support of New York-New Jersey’s WMFU radio. Last March, they joined fellow musicians for a benefit show in New York City to address the Living Wage for Musicians Act. The bill introduced through the US Congress aimed to pay artists a minimum of one penny per stream, in an amount calculated to provide artists a living wage directly through streaming profits. 

Yo La Tengo is currently on the final stretch of their This Stupid World Tour, supporting its eponymous album. Any interested locations within the general area of their remaining stops are encouraged by the band to apply.
