Indie rock icons Yeah Yeah Yeahs took to the stage last year for a very different sort of show. Accompanied by acoustics and strings, the trio – Karen O, Nick Zinner, and Brian Chase – pulled on recent favorites (such as "Spitting Off the Edge of the World" from the band's big return in 2022, Cool it Down) and deep cuts (including their cover of Bjork's "Hyperballad") for a series of reinventions of their beloved material.

And now, their show at London's Royal Albert Hall is being released as a full live album.

Hidden in Pieces Live at the Royal Albert Hall is out now digitally and will be out physically October 23 (alongside an expanded digital version) via Secretly Canadian.

The version out today contains 13 songs from London, where the other tracks on the expanded versions are from various other theaters.

Frontwoman Karen O says of the project:

"Hidden in Pieces Live at the Royal Albert Hall was born out of a need to commune with our band and fan family in 2025, after the election. In the past, YYYs haven't often chosen when to be back at it and out there, it often chooses us. It, being the times. We turn to live music when we need that specific quality of depth and light to see us through the times."

The group worked with composer and arranger Jherek Bischoff for the new versions, with a quartet and acoustic instrumentation. O continues: "The real alchemy happened when we played the hall, it clicked into place. All the shows we performed on this small tour were extraordinarily vulnerable. We hope that translates."

Along with the record comes a 22-minute short film, Hidden in Pieces, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Barnaby Clay. It is an exclusive to the Criterion Channel, though it will be getting a double-bill theatrical release UK, Australia, Japan and US, where it will be followed by "a film of the band's choosing."

O says of the film side of the project:

"Barney Clay has made a stunning film of the live performance that takes you there in the moment with us in the most heavenly way. Thanks to all the fans in attendance who's frequency lives on this record, and thanks to the fans who continue to make our music possible. Thanks also to David Lynch for his everything. His passing came a month before we began this journey and the performance begins with an ode to his legacy."

The live session captured on the film was recorded The Orpheum Theater in LA.
