Wrekmeister Harmonies announce new album 'Flowers in the Spring', share 10-minute title track

Experimental music duo Wrekmeister Harmonies have announced new album Flowers in the Spring. Releasing February 21 via Thrill Jockey, the album finds JR Robinson and Esther Shaw engaging in "hypnagogic sonics [that] are underpinned by the ever-present thrum of the drone."

The band has also released the first single in the form of the 10-minute title track. Listen below:

According to a press release:

"Flowers in the Spring was born of deep, careful listening as much as composing. The album explores music as a meditative practice with a focus on microtonal shifts and intersectional overtones. Robinson explains: 'it’s the subtle movements within and without, the fine threads of sound, loud or quiet, interior or exterior that become valuable.' Limiting himself to just four mixer channels on each piece, Robinson would precisely layer guitar and electronics, intently listening and manipulating either the intensity or the duration of each loop to yield unexpected interactions, moments of beauty as well as dissonance. Each piece grew from a specific scene and atmosphere that Robinson worked to replicate in sound."

This will be the band's first album since 2020's We Love to Look at the Carnage.

Flowers in the Spring is out 2/21. Preorder here, and find the tracklist below:
