Wolf Alice share new single "The Sofa"

Today, UK band Wolf Alice shared "The Sofa", the second promotional single off their upcoming record The Clearing, out August 22 via Columbia Records.

The band also released an accompanying music video, directed by Fiona Jane Burgess. Watch/listen to the new track below:

"The Sofa" reflects on vocalist and front woman Ellie Rowsell's career in music, taking on the form of a classic rock-inspired piano ballad. "And I’ll be fine, I’ll be ok," she sighs in the chorus, "I feel kind of lucky right now and I’m not ashamed to say." Later on Rowsell sings:

"Didn’t make it out to California
Where I thought I might clean the slate
Feels a little like I’m stuck in Seven Sisters
North London, oh England
And maybe that’s ok."

The song attempts to make peace with growing older, not having every minute detail of one's life figured out, and moving on from things that did or didn't happen, according to Rowsell via press release. "It’s also about trying to get to grips with the polarizing aspects of one’s life when you’re in a band," she added, contrasting the bustling, loud pace of touring with retreating home and returning to quiet, TV dinners.

Wolf Alice will also embark on their US and Canada tour this coming September before beginning their UK and Europe leg. Tickets are available now; see the dates below.
