Willie Nelson, the country music legend, has announced that he will be releasing a new album on November 1st. Last Leaf on the Tree will mark the second release Nelson has had this year following the May release of The Border. Nelson has also released the leading single for the album, a cover of the 2011 Tom Waits track "Last Leaf" from Waits's album Bad as Me. You can listen to it below:

Last Leaf on the Tree will be Nelson's 76th studio album. The artist has released many collaborative efforts in addition to his vast sea of solo material, so with this upcoming release, Nelson's name will officially be attached to a staggering 153 albums. This will also be the first of Nelson's work where his son, Micah, will be involved with the production. Micah has previously performed with his father on 2017's Willie and the Boys, as well as 2021's The Willie Nelson Family.

The 91-year-old's album will feature some original new material, but the majority of the record will have Nelson covering other artists. These artists include Sunny War, Warren Zevon, Nina Simone, Beck, The Flaming Lips, and more. The tracks were curated by Micah, and will be performed by Nelson with the help of some guest musicians, and even Micah himself.

Earlier this year, Nelson was a featured guest on Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter. He appeared on the track "SMOKE HOUR ★ WILLIE NELSON" as the DJ for the fictional radio station KNTRY Radio Texas.

Nelson has also been on the road in the 'Outlaw Music Festival Tour' alongside Bob Dylan, and he had also teamed up with Orville Peck on "Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly Fond of Each Other", which dropped back in April.
