Cathy Lucas returns with her Vanishing Twin bandmates Valentina Magaletti and Susumu Mukai for a fifth studio album, Archives, out October 2 via Fire Records. With the band now split between rural France (Lucas) and a London houseboat (Magaletti and Mukai), the album was crafted in within a virtual studio space but otherwise adhered to the trio's well-establish process of – as Lucas puts it by way of explaining the album title – "gathering material together, riffing with it, turning it around on itself, trying to put the pieces together and create a story with it”.

Archives is previewed today by the title track and "Bring Me the Axe," a song about extremes that's loosely based on the story of 19th century murder suspect Lizzie Borden, who was tried but never convicted of killing her father and stepmother with a hatchet at their home.
