London-born composer and producer, The Vernon Spring (Sam Beste), has announced his newest album Under a Familiar, out Sun May 9th via RVNG Intl.. Along with the announcement, Beste has shared its leading single "The Breadline (feat. Max Porter)" as well as another track called "Requiem for Reem."

The album was produced and mixed mainly in Beste's studio and features dynamic contributions from several different artists, including writer Max Porter, who is featured on the leading single. Conversations between Beste and Porter over email about “the gap between ourselves and the unspeakable pain of others in a world increasingly vacant of moral leadership” lead to the creation of the track.

Porter explains the track came out much more uplifting than anticipated. He says the track is:

“...bringing out something so much more abstract or prayer-like, a kind of quiet pleading half-message, like a voice-note to a ghost.”

The track is paired with "Requiem for Reem" which Beste says is "the closest this album gets to a conventional piano composition that you could notate."

Beste explains the record is an intimate exploration of domesticity as well as a meditation on responsibilities in times of uncertainty. The artist describes it as "a love letter to my family."

Under a Familiar Sun will be released on RVNG Intl. in North & South America, OPIA Community throughout the world, and Inpartmaint in Japan.
