The Orchestra (For Now) share new single "Deplore You / Farmer's Market" off upcoming EP

Today, the seven-piece orchestral punk band The Orchestra (For Now) shared the second single off their upcoming release, Plan 76, out October 31. "Deplore You / Farmer's Market", which comes with a self-made music video filmed in a small bedroom, follows "Hat Trick", which they released last month.

Watch/listen below:

"It’s a front facing reckoning that explores ambition and fatigue, and the strains of failure and minor success," explained the band via press release. Different from their previous work, which weaves esoteric lyrics into a sprawling, maximalist, and chaotic chamber sound, "Deplore You / Farmer's Market" aims to be more direct. "We thought stripping back and exposing ourselves was the right call, letting the song breathe," they said. "It’s an experiment in restraint, right up until we can’t keep it in."

Plan 76 is the second EP to come from The Orchestra (For Now), who made their studio debut this past March with Plan 75. (They've been drawing up buzz as a live band for a while, becoming Brixton Windmill regulars in London, playing festivals, and winning the 2024 Green Man Festival’s Rising Act award.) While the first collection of songs was seen as the band solidfying their sound, Plan 76 "completes the story we wanted to tell."

The band continues:

"It is a continuation of the themes in our first record but placing what we established there in different worlds and situations. Instrumentally speaking it is, to us, more ambitious. Not because we are playing incredibly complicated parts, but the opposite - we tried to refine rather than complicate. There are incredibly exposed moments, where we stripped the instrumentation back (which is not natural for us to do)."

The band will be going on a brief headline tour in the UK later this fall, following a series of festival appearances. Tickets are available now.
