Indiana doom metal forefathers The Gates of Slumber have released a lyric video for "Full Moon Fever", the second song on their 2024 eponymous album out via Svart Records.
Check it out below:
Directed by Tad Leger, with visual sequences and concepts by Cliff "Atomos" Peck, the lyric video for the second track, "Full Moon Fever", highlights the classic horror themes of the song and caps the return of a legendary American doom band.
“I was talking with our buddy Tad and he expressed an interest in doing the lyric video,” explains Simon. “Tad’s a massive fan of classic horror and he was into the song…. One thing led to another and he and his buddy Cliff came up with what I think is a pretty killer video clip! Hope you enjoy.”
Founded in the late '90s by guitarist/vocalist Karl Simon, The Gates of Slumber established itself as a doom institution over six colossal albums. The band's first demo featured Midnight frontman Athenar, and several musical road warriors have been in and out of the band since, including former bassist Jason McCash and former drummer "Iron" Bob Fouts.
After McCash quit the band and died a short time later, the band went on a seven-year hiatus. Several years later, The Gates of Slumber announced they had signed to the Finnish label Svart Records, the one-time home of doom bands like 40 Watt Sun, Pentagram, Witch Mountain, and others.
The Gates of Slumber was the band's long-awaited return, and earned critical acclaim when released in 2024. You can purchase the album digitally or on wax.
