Sweet Pill share new single "Slow Burn"

Today, the Philadelphia DIY-ers Sweet Pill shared their new single "Slow Burn". The track appears on their upcoming album Still There's A Glow, out March 13 via Hopeless Records.

"Slow Burn" comes with an accompanying music video, directed and edited by OD Blank. Watch/listen to the new single below:

On the new single, singer Zayna Youssef aimed to explore anxiety and overthinking, relying on concrete images to express her feelings, per a press release. In the lyrics, she compares it to a cigarette. "Every slow drag fills you up with literal death, but the exhale feels so good — the irony of how something that feels good is so bad for you," she says. "There are countless things in my life I take a deeeep, slow drag from that really don’t benefit me, these habits have a short term satisfaction but the long term effect can be just one big slowburn."

The music video takes on a different angle, embodying anxiety as a surveillance camera constantly recording. She describes it as "a snapshot into the mind of someone who overthinks to the point of ‘seeing things’ that may not even be there."

"Whether I am battling confidence or bad habits," she adds, "overthinking can be so habitual. It kind of traps you in this circular purgatory which you find me running in and out of."
