First there was the great reunification of Oasis, complete with a massive world arena tour promising all the greating hits (but no new album). Then came Pulp's signing to Rough Trade Records, also paired with a brief yet explosive UK tour (but seemingly no new album yet). Now, another big band of the Britpop era is returning to an old classic this summer: Supergrass.
Earlier today, the English indie pop/rock band announced that it would be traveling to select cities across Mexico and the United States to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their smash hit debut record, I Should Coco. Members Gaz and Rob Coombes, Mike Quinn, and Danny Goffey will play the 1995 album in its entirety, as well as some of the later hits from their discography, according to their announcement.

I Should Coco launched Supergrass's career with its debut in 1995, released in the peak of the Britpop era. This record reached #1 on the UK Billboard charts the month of its July release, and stayed at the top for three weeks, according to the Every Hit database, making it the first and only Supergrass album to reach this level of commercial success. (It also gained platinum status after selling 500,000 units domestically, but their 1997 follow-up In It For The Money also gained that, according to an archived press release from 1999.)
The single "Alright" is the most recognizable song from I Should Coco, if not from Supergrass's entire discography. Still used as a song that embodies lighthearted teenage rebellion, its feature in the concert setlist will be a delightful surprise, as the band rarely played it live. Vocalist and guitarist Gaz Coombes admitted in a 1999 interview with Nude as the News that the band got tired of its adolescent nature, joking, "We should play it in a minor key, and in the past tense."
Supergrass disbanded in 2010 after announcing a brief farewell tour. "Thanks to everyone who has supported us over the years," said the Oxford band in an official statement at the time, as printed in Stereoboard. "We still love each other but, clichΓ© notwithstanding, musical differences have led to us moving on." The band reunited in 2020 for a tour, and they released the Live On Other Planets live album and a 2022 remaster of Supergrass (1999) afterward.
Tickets for the I Should Coco anniversary tour will go on sale Friday, February 21 at 10 am local time. Supergrass promises no dynamic pricing β a problematic policy companies used to price gouge the cost of Oasis tickets due to popular demand β as reported by BBC. See the upcoming dates below:
