Summer Walker sues LVRN for alleged fraud as Interscope seeks more than $50 million from her

Summer Walker is fighting to free herself from the two companies that helped launch her career, with separate legal disputes now threatening to unravel recording agreements dating back nearly a decade.

The R&B singer has sued Atlanta-based label and management company Love Renaissance (LVRN), accusing it of fraud, breach of contract, and failing to act in her best interests. According to Rolling Stone, which obtained the complaint, Walker wants a court to invalidate the agreement she signed with LVRN in September 2017.

The lawsuit, filed in Atlanta on August 28, alleges that LVRN improperly diverted money from budgets intended to finance Walker's recordings, tours, merchandise, and promotion. She also claims the company profited from merchandise bearing her name and image without compensating her.

Another allegation concerns a YouTube account allegedly operated in Walker's name without her knowledge. The complaint claims LVRN collected money from the channel and erased its historical data before transferring control to her. Walker is seeking financial damages, although her complaint does not specify an amount.

Her attorney, Keith Moten, told Rolling Stone that ending the LVRN agreement is his client's primary objective.

Meanwhile, Interscope Records has brought its own lawsuit against Walker, demanding more than $50 million over music it says she remains contractually obligated to deliver.

Walker notified Interscope in August that she intended to terminate her agreement under California's seven-year rule, which limits the duration of personal services contracts. However, a provision specifically addressing recording artists allows labels to pursue damages for undelivered albums.

Interscope argues that Walker completed only three of the five studio albums required by her deal. Her releases include Over It, Still Over It, and Finally Over It, with the latter arriving in 2025.

The label is also seeking compensation related to an allegedly outstanding EP.
