Smut share "Touch & Go" from upcoming album 'Tomorrow Comes Crashing'

A month before sharing their sophomore record, Tomorrow Comes Crashing, the Chicago-based indie punk rock band Smut released their new single "Touch & Go." Tomorrow Comes Crashing is out June 27 via Bayonet Records.

Watch/listen to the music video for the track below:

"Touch & Go" lyricist and vocalist Tay Roebuck explains that the track was inspired in part by the messy liberation and celebration of youth encapsulated in "Time to Pretend" by MGMT. "The pursuit of success and the daydreams we have of ‘making it’ are pretty easily shattered once you put that fantasy in the modern world," she added, according to a press release. "The song ends with the realization that the best part of music will always be the community you build with it.”

The new single follows the band's promotional tracks "Dead Air" and "Syd Sweeney", a rushing punk song dedicated to the Hollywood actress. The three songs – all of which appear on the LP – hint at the emo and punk rock tones Smut's sophomore record might take on; Roebuck also states that the "intensity" of Tomorrow Comes Crashing attempts to channel the emotions of early 2000s alt rock albums like Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge (My Chemical Romance) and Relationship Of Command (At The Drive-In).
