Shane Hawkins, the son of the late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, had been stepping in occasionally for his father following his passing. In the months following his death, there was rampant speculation about Shane taking over on drums for Dave Grohl's band, where his father sat since 1997. That all ended though after Josh Freese (Vandals) took the reigns in 2023.
Now it seems Taylor has a temporary fill-in gig lined up for another legacy act, that is the classic L.A. punk band FEAR. According to the band's Instagram, their drummer Spit Stix has been forced to miss a few shows due to a scheduling conflict with his other band, Nasalrod, so it looks like they've called upon Hawkins to take on rhythm duties instead.
They say:
"Due to a scheduling error, Spit Stix will not be joining us for our shows in Minneapolis, and Ferndale next weekend. If you get a chance, go check out Nasalrod when they arrive in your city.
Replacing him for just these two shows will be our pal Shane Hawkins.
We look forward to seeing you next weekend!"
