Shaky Knees announce festival lineup; The Strokes, Twenty One Pilots, and Gorillaz headline

The annual Shaky Knees music festival will return to Piedmont Park in Atlanta, GA this September (18-20) for another three-day fest.

Today, the organizers unveiled the official lineup, loading up each day with a cadre of rock stars. The headliners this year will be The Strokes, Twenty One Pilots, and Gorillaz, with many bands of equal notoriety following closely behind.

The Strokes continue to build their festival circuit, adding Shaky Knees to their growing list that includes April's Coachella and June's Bonnaroo. Joining them on the Friday, September 18 date will be popular bands like Turnstile, Fontaines D.C., and Geese, as well as the legend Danny Elfman, the emo rockers Hot Mulligan, and the self-made indie folk singer-songwriter Alice Phoebe Lou.

Jimmy Eat World, who are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their breakthrough album Bleed American with an anniversary tour, will be performing on Saturday, September 19. Pavement, who are also holding true to their promise to reunite, will also play that night, joining Blood Orange, Pierce The Veil, Peach Pit, Taking Back Sunday, and Minus The Bear before the Twenty One Pilots headline.

Other notable acts on the Saturday lineup include Britain's Wolf Alice and Geordie Greep.

Gorillaz close the Shaky Knees Festival on Sunday, September 20 after an interesting blend of electronic and indie rock acts. Coming right before the massive art rock band are equal legends in their craft: LCD Soundsystem and Wu-Tang Clan. These performances follow appearances by Knocked Loose, Japanese Breakfast, Modest Mouse, Santigold, Jet, OK Go, Fcukers, and others.

Violet Grohl — the 19 year-old daughter of Dave Grohl, occasional Nirvana vocalist, and recent addition to the Republic Records roster — will be making her first festival appearance as a solo artist at this fest.

People can sign up for presale for Shaky Knees now, and they'll be able to get early access to admission on Thursday, February 26 at 9 am ET. More information is available on the festival's official website.
