Soul and quiet storm singer extraordinaire Sade is set to release a new song, "Young Lion," her first in six years. The song will feature on the upcoming Red Hot compilation TRAИƧA, which aims to raise trans awareness through its 46 tracks. Fittingly, "Young Lion" is dedicated to her son, Izaak, who identifies as trans.
Sadly, Sade has received some transphobic backlash for the move through comments on her Facebook post about the project, leading fans to come to her defense:
Other artists that will be involved on the compilation include Sam Smith, Faye Webster, and André 3000. In development since 2021, the project will have over three hours of music across eight chapters (one for each stripe on the Pride flag).
Sade has not released new music recently, save for a couple of tracks from 2018 – "The Big Unknown," from the soundtrack to the film Widows, and "Flower of the Universe," which featured on the soundtrack to A Wrinkle In Time. Her last full-length project, Soldier of Love, was released in 2010.
TRAИƧA will be released on November 22nd. Preorder it here.
