East Texas rapper Ro$ama is phoning home in a new music video for “E.T.,” the opening track from his recently released debut album, My Forte, out via 600 Entertainment under license to UnitedMasters.

The Paris, TX rapper has steadily emerged as one of the state’s rising voices, both behind the microphone and with the pen. His work alongside fellow Texas rapper BigXthaPlug has earned him multiple platinum plaques, but My Forte puts the focus squarely on Ro$ama across a sprawling 20 tracks.

Of all those songs, however, “E.T.” proved the most difficult to write, as the artist told RollingOut:

“I write every song, so to me it was pretty normal. But one of the songs I cried on writing. It was a new feel for it ... I haven’t talked about a certain situation to no one before. When I was writing it, it was pretty heartfelt.”

That vulnerability ultimately made “E.T.” a natural starting point for My Forte. Speaking recently with GQ South Africa, Ro$ama said he immediately recognized the song as an opener.

“When I made it, it sounded like an intro to something, whether a mixtape or an album. When we finished it, Aaron and I were talking on the phone, and he agreed it sounded like an intro, so it had to be the first song.”

Out now, My Forte showcases Ro$ama’s versatility and songwriting across 20 tracks, with appearances from BigXthaPlug, Big Savage, Monaleo, Sir Cheezy and Kevangotbandz.
