Today, the British jazz pop singer-songwriter RAYE shared "Nightingale Lane.", the second single off her upcoming record, THIS MUSIC MAY CONTAIN HOPE. It's the first piece of new music shared since she announced her new record, which will come out March 27 via Human Re Sources.
Listen to "Nightingale Lane." below:
RAYE lays out the premise of the track immediately, beginning it with a short, spoken-word introduction. "This is a song about the greatest heartbreak I've ever known," she spills before getting into lyrics that discuss memory, grief, moving on, and hope. Plus, because it's RAYE, the lines are delivered through her powerful, R&B-meets-jazz vocals, with bits of opera soprano adorning the final breakdown.
"Nightingale Lane" follows "WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!", the raucous, brassy single that reached viral status and the no. 1 spot on UK Billboard last year. Both will be on THIS ALBUM MAY CONTAIN HOPE, a concept album that divides her journey to finding happiness into four "seasons."
The rest of the tracklist has yet to be revealed.
