The LA-based electropop duo Purity Ring are back with a new record. Titled Purity Ring, the band's fourth album will be independently released September 26. The band will then embark on a US tour this October, where they'll be travelling to 23 cities across the country to promote their self-titled album.

Purity Ring also shared the lead single "place of my own", a trance track rich in synthesized melodies signature to the band. Listen below:

For "place of my own", Purity Ring claim that the song "came into being with ease and immediacy," according to a press release. They wrote the track while staying in a cabin in a forested mountain range, immersed in haze and fog. "The beat felt just like the cloud we were in," they add, going on:

"It was succinct and ready for the type of lyrics that imbued places we dream of, places we wish we could exist in, places we see everyday but are just out of reach. In the end, this song is meant as a sort of spell in the way that maybe we can reach these places if we watch our steps carefully, if we take the time to build them for ourselves.”

Purity Ring continues a new period for the duo's career, as it will be the second record independently released. They shared their first three records under the 4AD label; they then switched to their independent label The Fellowship in 2022 with the release of graves.

The new record – which also includes recent singles "many lives" and "part ii" – will take the form of a concept album, crafting a score for an imaginary RPG inspired by seminal video games like Final Fantasy X and NieR: Automata, per the press release. The duo mj and Corin have transformed themselves into two main characters on a mission to save the world, traveling between dream realms to explore feelings of grief, joy, family, and hope.

The Purity Ring tour will begin this October in Ventura, CA and will travel to different cities across the US before returning to the band's home base of Los Angeles, CA. Tickets will be available for purchase next Thursday, July 17 at 10 am local time.
