The British nonprofit War Child UK, which raises money to aid children living through conflict, are getting ready to release their second compilation record HELP(2) March 6.
Today, Pulp, one of the star bands on the massive lineup, shared "Begging For Change".
Listen to the new track below:
"Begging For Change" was originally written for Pulp's More, their first record since their 2022 reunion released last year, according to front man Jarvis Cocker's social media. "It was begun in late 2024," he said before admitting, "it didn’t go on More because a certain person couldn’t get the lyrics right...even though the rest of the band waited patiently." The band finished the track with Aminesh Raval and James Ford, the main producer for HELP(2).
The new single, an unopologetic and urgent track about exploitation and corporate greed, features the same children's choir enlisted for Damon Albarn, Grian Chatten, and Kae Tempest's single, "Flags". (Pulp — as well as Black Country, New Road, Declan McKenna, English Teacher, and many more — participated in last week's single.) The "Flags" lead singers and The Libertines' Carl Barât are credited as backup vocalists for "Begging For Change".
Pulp won the Mercury Prize in 1996 for their 1995 hit record, Different Class. The band donated all their £25,000 prize money to War Child and dedicated their winning moment to the charity.
