Today, Pulp shared "Got to Have Love", the second single off their upcoming album, More, due for release on June 6 via Rough Trade.
The UK band also released an accompanying music video for "Got to Have Love", directed by front man Jarvis Cocker and featuring BBC archival footage of the Wigan Casino Club, a prominent hub for the 1970s Northern Soul song and dance movement.

"Got to Have Love" channels Northern Soul in its energetic, spinning, mod sound — supported by repetitions of the titular phrase in the chorus. "It’s a slightly hysterical song that tries to talk about love as I see it now,” says Cocker in a press release, per Under The Radar. He added:
"Love is a word I was unable to say until I was approaching 40. I listened to love songs all the time but couldn’t use the word in real life. The words to this song are me having a word with myself about this state of affairs. I gave myself a real talking-to. I have now learnt how to say it whilst keeping a straight face. You’ve got to have love. Oh yes you have.”
The music video primarily shows footage of the 1977 TV documentary, This England, directed by Tony Palmer. The original 30-minute film about the Wigan Casino featured young, energetic club-goers showing off their upbeat, expressive, and notably freestyled dance moves. "Wouldn't you love to be able to dance like this?" Cocker asks in an overlayed text message. "You can. Try it right now!"
More, Pulp's first album in 24 years, contains many tracks fans might have heard in recent live performances, finally recorded and cut for a studio version. "Got to Have Love" is no exception; the band debuted it live last September during their Kings Theatre performance in Brooklyn, NY. See a fan recording below:
