After the unfortunate announcement that longtime Primus drummer Tim "Herb" Alexander will be permanently closing his door with the band, it seems that another door has opened for the group.
The band, now masterminded by lead vocalist and bassist, Les Claypool, and guitarist, Larry LaLonde, took to their Instagram page on November 18th issuing a statement about the future of Primus, with the inclusion that they are currently on the lookout for a new drummer.
With speculation about the band's lineup changes already underway, the floodgates have officially opened for drummer submissions. The band, so far, has not set a deadline for when the new drummer will be selected, but video and resume submissions are now open for all entrants.
They're specifically looking for "a well-mannered, affable individual with original sensibility and aesthetic, possessing a desire to open new doors in the creative world"."
Despite Alexander's departure and plans of forming together with a new drummer underway, the band's annual New Year's Eve show in Oakland, CA is still on. They say the show will be a "pivot to an augmented version of Primus featuring members of Holy Mackerel and Frog Brigade".
Primus's Sessanta tour starting in April 2025, playing simultaneously alongside Puscifier and A Perfect Circle, will mark the start of the band's new era.
