Patti Smith announces 'Horses' 50th Anniversary Tour

Legendary rock icon Patti Smith is going out on tour in celebration of her classic first album, Horses, for its 50th Anniversary.

Originally released in November of 1975, the revered album introduced the mainstream world to Smith's blend of punk, rock, garage, and spoken word poetry. It features some of Smith's best-known songs, such as "Land", "Free Money", and "Gloria".

To celebrate the record's 50th birthday, Smith and her band will head out for an Anniversary Tour, playing across the UK, Europe, and the US. The hugely influential album will be performed front to back with a band consisting of guitarist Lenny Kaye and drummer Jay Dee Daugherty (who both appeared on the original release), as well as keyboardist/bassist Tony Shanahan and guitarist Jackson Smith.

"Please join us to help celebrate the final ride of our irreverent thoroughbred," Smith said in a press release.

This is not the first time Smith and her band did a birthday celebration for her integral debut album. In 2005, she did a 30th Anniversary show at Meltdown Festival in London. And in 2015 she did some 40th shows as well.
