The sci-fi franchise TRON certainly knows how to pick a band for a soundtrack. Following up their 2010 sequel TRON: LEGACY, which featured the critically-acclaimed soundtrack by Daft Punk, the film series tapped the rock duo Nine Inch Nails to compose original music for its third installment, TRON: ARES. The soundtrack will be released September 19 via Interscope records — a month before the film's scheduled premier on October 10.

The band shared their first single, "As Alive As You Need Me To Be" today. It's their first piece of new music together under the NIN name in five years. Listen to it below:

NIN members Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross composed over 20 award-winning original film scores together, including those for The Social Network (2010), Challengers (2024), Gone Girl (2014), and MANK (2020) — collecting multiple Grammy, Academy Award, and Golden Globe nominaions and awards along the way. The TRON: ARES soundtrack will be the first under the Nine Inch Nails name.
