My New Band Believe (Cameron Picton of black midi) share "Numerology", announce debut album

My New Band Believe, the new band fronted by black midi's Cameron Picton, will release their debut self-titled album on April 10 via Rough Trade. They also shared their second-ever single "Numerology", alongside an accompanying video directed by Jack Shep. The band will go on an official tour in the UK and North America later this spring.

Watch "Numerology" below:

Picton debuted his new band last year with the single "Lecture 25", taking his guitar-led sound toward a pared down, indie rock with Spanish influence. The hyper, experimental energy carries onto "Numerology", which incorporates a brass band to emulate a club track. The following record will be almost entirely acoustic, according to a press release by Rough Trade, with barely any use of reverb or electronic effects.

The single was produced by Seth Evans, Picton's frequent collaborator and the keyboardist for My New Band Believe.

"Numerology" will not appear on the debut album, per Picton's official announcement, but it will be packaged as a bonus 10" disc for the physical version. (An instrumental version of the song is included as well.)

My New Band Believe comes after a year of workshopping new material during live performances, which Picton would then record and upload onto the internet to track the songs' evolutions. The upcoming record credits Picton, as well as Mike O'Malley and Jasper Llewellyn from caroline, as the record's main producers. Picton collaborated with them last year on caroline 2, doing some choral vocal work on a couple tracks.

My New Band Believe will go on their first tour later this spring, beginning with a couple dates in the UK before heading to North America. Tickets for the UK leg are on sale now; access to the sale for the North American gig will take place this Friday, February 20 at 10 am local time.
