Indie genre blender MF Tomlinson is back with a brand new LP, Die to Wake Up From a Dream, out July 11 via PRAH Recordings. It features a mix of folk, shoegaze, art-rock, prog and orchestral traditions, which should be no shock to longtime listeners.
With the news comes the first single – the title track – which stretches across nine minutes. Listen below:
Of the new song, Tomlinson says:
"When you die in a dream you are safe. When you die in a dream you dream another dream. This is the deus ex machina for us all to remember - that for most, when things seem darker than ever, happiness still exists beyond the tiny parameters that we have set for it. In realising your own power you set yourself free - not one day, but right now. This song is a treatise on resilience, hope and the frankly wildly psychedelic experience of being alive."
The new LP – Tomlinson's third – is being described as "an urgent and vivid description of the times in which we live ... [mapping] the psychic geography of our (internal, external, online, spiritual) reality." It also features Shovel Dance Collective’s Jacken Elswyth on one song and Dry Cleaning's Florence Shaw on another.
Tomlinson has a few UK tour dates for the end of this month supporting Melin Melyn. Check those dates out down below.
