Meric Long of the Dodos announces solo LP 'Kablooey' out this week, shares new single

Singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist Meric Long (of The Dodos) has announced Kablooey, a brand new solo LP. The album – out this Friday October 24 via Polyvinyl – follows the last Dodos record Grizzly Peak, which came out in 2021.

Long has also shared a single to go along with the news, "A Small Act of Defiance", which you can check out below:

Of the record, Long says "It's a love letter to creating stuff for creation's sake," adding:

"This album was really meant to be fun and not too purposeful. I put a lot into it as one would expect, but I really just wanted to make something that was fun and allowed me to follow my more ‘amped-up kid in a candy store’ impulses."

Long has shared solo work separate from the duo he shares with Logan Kroeber before. In 2018 he released a record under his FAN pseudonym called Barton's Den.

Since the last Dodos LP, Long has worked as an engineer at John Vanderslice’s Oakland, recording studio, Tiny Telephone, which is also partially where the new record was created.

Kablooey is out October 24. Preorder here. Full tracklist:

1. Split Decision
2. Exit Forward
3. A Small Act of Defiance
4. Maybe I Forgot
5. 1+1
6. Closer
