Melvins heavy-hitter (and one-time Nirvana sticksman) Dale Crover has released his new solo album, Glossolalia. Inspired by '70s hard rock and '60s pop, the LP sees the drummer taking on a singer-songwriter side.
The title track, which kicks off the album, is noteworthy in particular for featuring musical maverick Tom Waits. The gravel-voiced gent has been up to very little musically since releasing his last album, 2011's Bad As Me. He contributed to a 2018 rendition of the Italian protest song "Bella Ciao" by Marc Ribot, a 2013 spin on "Shenandoah" with Keith Richards, and laid down a couple of Blind Willie Johnson covers, but that's about it.
Crover's new album also includes guest features from Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil and Ty Segall. Having just concluded a stateside tour, Crover is set to tour Europe in October and November.
