Hot on the heels of the March release of her '90s rock memoir Even the Good Girls Will Cry, Melissa Auf der Maur has another book on the way capturing that same heady decade after joining Hole in 1994, and later the Smashing Pumpkins.
Curated from a vast personal archive of over 10,000 images, My '90s Rock Photographs (out September 8) features more than 200 shots taken by the former photography major over 240 pages. It also includes essays by music writer Ann Powers and curators Sophie Hackett and Jim Shedden, an 'in conversation' piece between Auf der Maur and R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe, plus Auf der Maur's own writing.
The book release coincides with an exhibition of the same name at Toronto's Art Gallery of Ontario, which runs from September 2 through to June 2027. Auf der Maur will be there in person to sign books on September 9, and plans are afoot for a live performance at the gallery on January 15. The exhibition will also include a 360° immersive installation called the Bass Womb Room, with a score by Auf der Maur.

My '90s Rock Photographs is published by DelMonico Books and the Art Gallery of Ontario. Pre-order here.
