Matt Pond PA is following the release of their track “Learn How to Lose” with another video revealing who made the final cut to join their band.

The video for “Straight Into The Night” is out today, and it guest stars Kate Walsh moving through initial auditions and fully making the band as their drummer.

Directed by Scott Coffey, Matt Pond PA and their newest member perform the song in a studio and outside, with grass and trees as the background. Walsh looks extremely happy drumming with frontman Matt Pond, who sings about surviving through the darkness together. The contrast between dark and light means finding hope even at your lowest.

Walsh previously starred in television series such as Grey’s Anatomy and Emily in Paris, but you probably didn’t know she was taking drum lessons many years ago and aspired to play in Neil Young and AC/DC cover bands.

Matt Pond PA and Walsh have collaborated previously for The Natural Lines’ “No More Tragedies.”

“I reached out to Kate to see if she’d like to carry a brick around for a day,” Pond told American Songwriter. “And Kate surprisingly said yes.”

The album is one of two or three volumes. Per a press release, he wants the work to be “sprawling and wild.”

“To me, this album is like an endless, fading summer afternoon,” Pond says. “It’s about embracing imperfection and being able, for one brief moment, to let go of worry. It’s about looking back on mistakes with pride. It’s about the way life can feel like a constant audition, and then the attempt to finally let that idea fall away.”
