Low's Alan Sparhawk releases second single from debut solo album

Alan Sparhawk, the longtime singer, songwriter, and guitarist for acclaimed Duluth, Minnesota band Low, recently announced his debut solo record under his own name. It's entitled White Roses, My God, and is out September 27 on Sub Pop, Low's longtime label. After teasing the project with first single "Can U Hear", Sparhawk has now released a second helping in the form of "Get Still". Listen and watch the video below:

Similar to "Get Still", the track finds Sparhawk in very electronic and processed territory, with mechanical beats and crunchy synths. It also, again, sees Sparhawk singing through a heavy autotone/vocoder effect. While Low was long-known for its style of dreamy, slow guitars and spare drums, it did become more known for toying with electronics on its final albums, like Double Negative and HEY WHAT.

Sparhawk shared his main band with his longtime wife and creative partner Mimi Parker (who sang, drummed, and wrote). Parker sadly passed away in 2022 from cancer. She was 55. After a lengthy battle with the illness, Sparhawk announced Parker's passing on November 6, 2022.

After news broke of her untimely departure, tributes poured out around the music world for Parker, with many artists expressing their deep appreciation for Parker's place in music.

In the wake of this loss, Sparhawk seemingly ended Low (which would've celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2023) and began embarking on solo work.

White Roses, My God will be released on September 27 via Sub Pop. You can preorder it here.
